The English Department gives two annual awards to graduate students. One award is given to an outstanding M.A. student and the other to an outstanding M.S. student. Nominations are typically due around Feb. 15. The winner is decided on the strengths of grade point average and faculty nominations. Candidates should display excellent classroom performance, research ability, and writing skill.
The Graduate School gives up to three Outstanding Master’s Thesis and three Outstanding Master’s Project awards. These awards recognize outstanding student research and applied scholarship. One of Buffalo State’s values is to engage our campus community in the “rigors, joys, and fulfillment of intellectual discovery.” This value is made manifest through a number of activities that occur within graduate programs, and in particular the thesis and project work carried out by our graduate students.
The State University of New York's Graduate Tuition Scholarship Opportunity Program provides disadvantaged graduate students with a full-tuition scholarship when they attend as full-time (12 graduate credit hours), matriculated graduate students. The State University of New York offers a fellowship program to recruit, enroll, and retain students who have been historically underrepresented in the university's graduate and professional programs.
