The English Department at Buffalo State College is home to three distinct majors: Literature (B.A.), English Education (B.S.), and Writing (B.A.). We believe that the study of language, literature, writing, and teaching provides our students with an awareness of our shared humanity, and equips our graduates to be leaders, thinker, and change makers. Our programs aim to produce graduates who:
- Use language and stories to communicate and reflect upon values and the meaning of life
- Understand the role of language and literature in the construction of reality and human experience
- Value and empathize with people from various cultural and global backgrounds
- Apply understanding of language and literature to a wide variety of occupational settings
