Becoming a teacher, like many professions, requires passing a variety of exams, completing various workshops, and meeting other important requirements. English Education students, like other teacher candidates in the state, must complete a variety of these tests and workshops to be eligible for New York State Certification.
English Education students can direct all questions regarding certification to the SUNY Buffalo State Certification Office.
English Education students can also visit the New York State Teacher Certification Examinations web site for information about specific exams, test preparation materials, and other important documents.
In addition to reviewing other NYSTCE test materials, English Education students are encouraged to review the English Language Arts Content Specialty Test Preparation Materials to become familiar with the test format and competencies this test evaluates.
