Carolyn is a 2019 graduate of Alden High School. She is pursuing English Education 7 – 12 with a minor in Theater Arts at Buffalo State. She is an EESA officer and will graduate in the spring of 2023.
Taylor is currently studying Secondary English Education and plans to minor in Photography. Taylor joined EESA in fall of 2020 and is looking forward to getting more involved as her years at Buffalo State continue. She plans to graduate in the year of 2023.
Cheyon is an English Education Major from Buffalo State. He joined EESA in Fall of 2019 and has lended a helping hand in many events such as planning, Youth Voices Conference and a Student Facilitator for the College Readiness Program. He has volunteered in various schools within his community. He has worked in several schools in different districts as a Writing Tutor, Personal Aide, Teacher’s Assistant and a Team Leader. He is currently employed in the Special Educational Department at Boces. Cheyon plans on teaching High School English Language Arts in his hometown of Buffalo, NY.
Lindsey is currently a graduate student in the English Education program and a ELA Teaher in the Wilson School District. Lindsey completed her Bachelors of Science in English Education 7-12 at Buffalo State College in the Fall of 2020. She was a EESA officer, and worked as an academic mentor and writing tutor for EOP students at Buffalo State College. Her teaching interests include integrating creative writing as a purposeful tool to teach in English curriculum, working with English Language Learners, and multicultural literature in the classroom.
Nick is currently a graduate student in the English Education program and a ELA Teaher in the Grand Island School District. He has a B.A. in Communications from Buffalo State College. He completed the post-baccalaureate English Education program at Buffalo State College in the Spring of 2020. He has worked as a substitute teacher in various districts, as well as an English and Writing Tutor at Erie Community College. Nick is interested in using his background in communication to explore the use of popular culture and cinema in the English classroom.
William O'Neil-White is a graduate of the English Education program. Will received his Bachelor's degree in English Education in the Fall of 2015 and his Master's degree in 2018. Will has been involved in many on and off campus events. This involvement includes his attendance at the National Council of Teachers of English Convention in Washington, D.C. Will is currently substitute teaching in the Buffalo-Niagara region while completing his Master's degree.
Spencer Miliotto was a graduate assistant for Buffalo State College’s English Education program. He received his M.S.Ed. in Secondary English Education (7-12) in the spring of 2020. Spencer has worked as the technology instructor at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine's Science and Technology Entry Program for five years, and taught College Writing at Buffalo State during the fall of 2019 semester. His teaching interests focus on creating classroom spaces where students can start to see themselves as agents of change in their communities.
Alyssa Moretti completed her M.S.Ed in Buffalo State’s English Education Master’s program in 2021 and is currently a middle school English teacher in the West Senica district. She received her B.S. in English Education (7-12) from Buffalo State in 2014. During her time at Buffalo State she was the Graduate Assistant for the English Education program and the graduate officer of the English Education Student Association, and the 2015 recipient of the Buffalo State Bachelor of Science award in English Education. Alyssa was also involved in many on and off-campus projects such as the Digital Writing Workshop and the College Readiness Program.
Adam Hernandez received his Master's degree in English Education from Buffalo State in 2015. He has experience teaching in diverse classroom settings including the Digital Writing Workshop. Adam is interested in the development of discussion-based classrooms and after teaching high school English at La Salle Academy in New York City is now an assistant principal in the Dunkirk school district.
Vanessa has a B.S. and an M.S.Ed. in English Education from Buffalo State College. As an undergraduate student, she co-founded the English Education Student Association and as a graduate student, she was involved in the beginning stages of the English Education Alumni Network. Vanessa currently teaches 8th grade English Language Arts at Sweet Home Middle School. She is the Vice President of the Western New York Network of English Teachers.
Matthew Gorny received his Bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education from Buffalo State. After spending some time teaching in Florida, Matt returned to Buffalo State to complete his Master’s degree in English Education. He has involved himself in the teaching community through his participation in many on and off campus events such as the Digital Writing Workshop. Matt’s teaching draws from inquiry-based learning frameworks and research on communities of practice. Matt is currently teaching in the Buffalo Public School District.
Matthew Hahn, was a graduate student in the English Education program, after receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State in the summer of 2015. Matthew has been very involved in the teaching community throughout his time at Buffalo State. Matt has worked one-on-one with students at the Digital Writing Workshop and currently substitute teaches in the Cheektowaga-Sloan School District.
